our recent annual Employee Recognition and Awards Reception, I had the pleasure of
addressing our now 175 employees in this our 75 th Diamond Jubilee Anniversary Year. It
was a proud and humbling moment for me to look out upon the faces of our dedicated staff
whose professionalism and expertise is demonstrated every day in their efforts to provide
the highest level of service to you, our valued and esteemed clients, and to maintain our
vital relationships with our industry colleagues.
We’ve come a long way from our modest storefront on William Street in downtown
Manhattan where my father, Bernard, began what has become a 75-year legacy that was shared
with his revered partners, Archie Wilkins and Joe Klepper. I joined the firm in 1959 while
still attending law school at night, and in 1961 when my father passed on, insurance
became my career choice as well.
We’ve been keeping it in the family ever since, with my sons, Marc and Eric, and
Archie’s son, Stuart, all joining the fold. In 1990, we welcomed Bob Dubofsky to the
firm. The collaborative efforts of our management team and hardworking staff have resulted
in many innovative achievements which have brought BWD to the next level, and have helped
us to maintain our edge in the industry.
I am especially proud of our proprietary programs including our Sports, Entertainment
and Special Risks Division, Wealth Management, Financial and Technical Services, Executive
and Individual Life, Group Employee Benefits, Homeowners Association Programs, and our new
Risk Management Division. Our industry is always changing and we continue to embrace new
challenges, particularly in such areas as international conflict, technological
advancement, and legislative reform, among others. We look forward to our continued growth
and remain committed to a proactive and philosophical approach to providing personalized
service to you, our honored clients, as well as to maintaining our long-term relationships
with our carrier partners. It is to each of you, and to the entire BWD family, that I wish
to express my thanks and best wishes for peace and prosperity in the years to come. |
